Turning empty shops  into homes

Middlesbrough CLT are currently working hard to convert two disused corner terraced properties into 4 flats.

The CLT acquired four long term empty properties including empty commercial premises owned by Middlesbrough Council.

We are currently refurbishing these properties in order to bring them back into use.

Construction work is being undertaken by local contractors and local volunteers with guidance and support from Community Campus.

Material Delivery

The work is all part of the CLT commitments to:

  • Provide accommodation for those that need it most
  • Improve our local environment
  • Create employment opportunities
  • Use the construction process to skill people for work and supporting access to employment, qualifications and further training

Shop Front

When renovated properties will meet the 2007 HCA Design and Quality standards and rents will be 80% of the local market rate. Accommodation leased will meet the decent homes standards.
