Residents have been giving their views on the latest plans to regenerate the Gresham area of Middlesbrough, which has been discussed since 2005.

The plans went on show again on Monday 12 April 2010 in the Streets Ahead for Information Office in Parliament Road.

They include demolishing 773 homes and transforming Union Street into a ‘high quality residential boulevard.’

Mayor Ray Mallon originally wanted to demolish 1,500 houses but reduced the number in March 2010.

Councillor Susan Carter for the Gresham ward said: “We need to kick start Gresham into being a nice place to live and hopefully this will. This is an emerging plan and it’s why we want to consult with residents.”
